Almost in front of the door are the indescribable waterfalls “Cascade” in “La Roque-sur-Cèze”. A truly picturesque place built on a limestone ledge and towers over the River Céze. It is only a few steps from there to the gorge with the waterfalls.

And of course you should visit “Pont du Gard” . A Roman aqueduct. It represents one of the best preserved water channels from Roman times in France.

For a long time it was believed that the aqueduct was around 19 BC. Was built. More recent excavations, however, indicate an emergence in the middle of the 1st century AD. The bridge was built to cross the valley of the Gardon River (which in Roman times was called Vardo fluvius ). After completion, about 20,000 cubic meters of water flowed daily over the aqueduct to Nemausus, which at the time had about 20,000 inhabitants. According to this, one cubic meter of water was theoretically available to every inhabitant every day.

Right in the Camarque. Pilgrimages are held there twice a year (in May and at the end of October) in honor of Marys Cleophae and Salome. Admire white horses and wild flamingos all over the Camarque.

Another great holiday experience is a trip to the sea to “La Grande-Motte” with excellent restaurants / beach clubs (in the warm months) directly on the beach (e.g. La Voile Bleue) with private parking. A “butler” welcomes you and parks and watches the car for you for little money. Then you really feel like God in France.

Only 6 kilometers (10 minutes from Verfeuil), (20 minutes from Le Pin) is the place “Goudarques” , which is rightly called “Little Venice”. In the summer months with countless restaurants; all located on a small river and often with live music. Gérard Depardieu bought Jean Carmet’s house there to set up a Carmet museum.

It is worth visiting the first duchy in France (Le Duché). Life pulsates in Uzés, especially on Saturday – the big market day. You just have to see it.
